General Description of the Role

The Material Planning Manager is responsible for executing, controlling, and monitoring Direct Material supply planning and inventory management activities with the objectives of maintaining stable and accurate inventory levels, maintaining high service levels for the Jamaica plants (located in Kingston, JM) under its scope, maintaining the balance between the supply of raw and packaging materials and consumption at the plant level, and increasing inventory visibility and efficiency while optimizing inventory investment. 

The Material Planning manager will manage a team of 2 material planners based in New York City, building a high performing team that collaborates well and proactively with the local, regional and global teams. The Manager will measure supply performance across multiple local and global suppliers, in close partnership with our regional Procurement team. The scope of the role covers Supply & Inventory Planning, Material Requirement Planning, Production Planning & Scheduling, Warehousing Space Planning and Vendor Management.

The Manager will ensure solid communication and collaboration with Jamaica based Supply Chain peers, Procurement, Finance, Logistics, and Quality teams as well as all external partners so that current, accurate information is available for production and inventory planning across the full BU Jamaica. The individual will be tasked with identifying risk to the Material plan - ahead of any impact to the business, escalate the challenge to the Supply Response team and lead the resolution of the bottleneck in collaboration with our local/regional partners.

The individual will lead, coach, and develop the Material Planning team and will lead key projects/programs that advance initiatives and develop capabilities supporting Campari�??s growth and productivity improvements. The individual will play a key role in driving and supporting the Budget, S&OP and S&OE processes and all related supply and inventory processes and improvement projects. 

The Manager functions as local expert in best-in-class Material Planning/Inventory Management practices, harmonizing the requirements of the multifaceted Jamaica operations with the overall Campari supply network. The Manager will work closely with the Material Planning Director to standardize business practices and identify areas of opportunities for process improvement. 

Mission/Objectives

The Manager is the owner of all activities related to meeting the Material plan for the full scope of Campari�??s activities in Jamaica as well as the intra-plant movement of dry goods from other Business Units within the Campari network. 

In collaboration with the Supply Planner, the Supply Response Manager, the Bottling team, and with the guidance of the North America Materials Planning Director, the Manager ensures the supply of raw materials as well as ingredients in line with forecasts, planned production and inventory policies.

The Manager is responsible for reporting tasks, as well as escalation risk to the plan. 

The Manager actively seeks root causes of Material supply issues, identifying the problem sources, proposing solutions, implementing the fix and monitoring that the root cause has been resolved, in order to sustain the positive change. 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

Strategy Definition

  • Provides input to the development and implementation of the planning strategy and inventory management policies and guidelines.

  • Analyzes a variety of information and data from multiple operational sources to support the NA Materials Planning Director in making informed decisions about the Material supply strategy.

  • Keeping in line with inventory management policies, supports the NA Materials Planning Director in analyzing performance data and monitoring performance against set KPIs and when necessary, contributes to the definition of the KPIs.

  • Contributes to the deployment of sustainable planning actions following inventory management guidelines and programs.

Planning Activities

  • Develops Material plans and schedules required to satisfy demand that are in line with planning strategies and inventory policies.

  • Analyzes changes to planned forecasts to determine impact on supply and recommends adjustments to demand and/or supply plans.

  • Monitors Material consumption patterns and adjusts supply schedules as required.

  • Identifies constraints to Material plans and advises Supply Response team in a timely manner.

  • Monitors Material service delivery performance.

  • Supervises the execution of the Material planning process by their direct reports, ensuring availability of raw/packaging material required to meet production schedules.

  • Provides projections for Material and raw materials as required.

  • Projects storage capacity requirements to identify constraints.

  • Represents, as required, the Material Planning function with respect to Packaging and Raw Materials in the Product Innovation process.

  • Monitors inventory levels and adjusts purchase requirements to ensure levels meet targets.

  • Assists the NA Materials Planning Director with the identification of slow moving and obsolete stock.

  • Supports the NA Materials Planning Director with the coordination of and preparation for the S&OP process.

  • Generates planning reports relating to raw/packaging materials and planning master data as required.

  • Supports continuous improvement of business processes and IT systems.

  • Along with the Master Data/Reporting specialist, is responsible for the creation, modification and deletion of all materials master data in the Planning related information systems required to ensure supply and reporting requirements.

  • Carries out master data management activities for the North America Planning Hub as required.

  • Carries out Regional Replenishment planning for the North America Planning Hub as required.

  • Performs any other related duties, which may be assigned from time to time.

Authority

  • The Manager is the main contact for all Material planning activities and data at the country level. The individual owns all aspects of cross functional collaboration within the area of operation, functioning as the leader for Material planning on all aspects of material management, PO creation, Cancellation, Expedite/De-Expedite

  • The Manager partners directly and independently with local Procurement and Quality teams to manage the relations with all suppliers, providing critical insight on performance and supply bottleneck/low performing areas.

  • Supervises 2 direct reports to ensure efficient, effective and continuous supply of dry and raw materials in line with planned bottling and inventory guidelines.

  • The Manager will approve POs within their range, within the BU Delegation of Authority guidelines and determine the level of the safety stock and target stock in alignment with Americas�?? Inventory Manager

Coaching

  • Trains the direct reports on supply chain best practices, ensuring consistency across direct reports and strong respect of documented processes.

  • Coaches team members and nourishes direct reports�?? professional growth. Responsible for mentoring direct reports and close business partners to create an inclusive and best-in-class supply chain organization.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 6 years�?? experience in Material planning and inventory management or related supply chain roles.

  • A minimum of 3 years�?? experience in team management, coaching and upskilling.

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor�??s degree in an applied science subject, Business Management, Economics or equivalent qualification.

  • SAP Experience is required

  • APICS certifications and/or Lean Six Sigma training is a plus

  • Strong and proven understanding of MRP concepts and functionality

Travel

  • This role will be required to frequently visit the plant in Jamaica, with travel around 20-25% of the time

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $124,400-155,500. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors and considerations. In addition to the base salary and a generous employee benefits package, employees are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
